Indie pop, dance, and rock from a neighborhood in central California. Quietly writing since 2014.

Bio

American singer, songwriter, and producer Eunith balances his love of dance music with the influences of garage rock, indie pop, and hardcore from his adolescence.

The musical development behind Eunith is marked by several stages throughout his life: Piano child > Guitar kid > EDM nerd > Ambient fan > Funk wannabe > and finally acceptance of the self.

Eunith’s debut single, “One Another” has been featured on the Synth Pop Newcomer blog and playlist, as well as Synthpop Fanatic 2021. His single, “Now” has been featured on the Towards The Light blog, as well as IndieStream. In October 2021, he was selected as one of Fender’s Global Player Plus winners, by a panel of judges that included Nile Rodgers (Chic), and Emily Kokal (Warpaint). In 2022, Eunith won the “Video of the Year” Bakersfield Music Award (BMA) for “Back Here.” While many of his musical influences are apparent upon first listen, some less-obvious artists have been integral to the evolution of Eunith's sound, including Yanni, Iron & Wine, and The Fall of Troy.

Keen to channel the eclectic sound of multi-instrumentalists from his teen years, Eunith (née Matthew Prewitt) found momentum in the use of guitar pedals and eventually the expansive world of software instruments, suddenly able to contribute any sound to a number of folk, electronic, and rock projects during his undergraduate time at Yale University. After returning to the west coast, he briefly worked in mixing and mastering, with his work being played at such venues as London’s Ministry of Sound. His music is primarily made within Ableton Live, and regularly features one of his three favorite guitars – the pink Strat, the white SG, or the aqua Dano. Today, he makes most of his music at a desk near a window, in a house built in the 1940s.

It’s because of these

  • Strings

From haphazardly breaking countless guitar strings as a child, to the inevitable desire to bend notes in real-time, and the eventual school violin attempt, stringed instruments have shaped the musical path of Eunith.

  • Keys

Piano lessons marked the first formal musical training in Eunith’s life, at 8 years old. With the advent of at-home DAWs and software instruments, keyboard aptitude quickly translated into endless possibilities.

  • Time

Wrestling restraint and fear has resulted in a catalog of closely treasured music, spanning many formative phases of Eunith’s life, only now being released for listeners to share in the memory of those phases.

"HOW YOU SEE ME"
04:25 LENGTH

Lyrics:

Here’s the noise,
Here’s the taste,
And we all get what we pay for

It’s the voice,
You can place,
And a sense that you’ve seen this before

Don’t recall
I wanna paint this,
Right with all
the other painless
Thoughts reposed,
I’m gone before you know,

But you could make me,

Swim between
the fear and sleep
surrounding me, but
The daggers in my mouth, and
The face I can allow

Say now,
Is this really how you see me?
Say now,
Is this really how you see me?
If I can’t make any more,
If I can’t open the door then don’t
Say now,
This is really how you see me.

Most of all
I wanna take this,
Leap without
the hesitation
Held within
Of who else might have been,

But you could make me,

Swim between
the fear and sleep
surrounding me, but
The daggers in my mouth, and
The face I can allow

Say now,
Is this really how you see me?
Say now,
Is this really how you see me?
If I can’t make any more,
If I can’t open the door then don’t
Say now,
This is really how you see me.

Swim between
the fear and sleep
surrounding me, but
The daggers in my mouth, and
The face I can allow

Say now,
Is this really how you see me?
Say now,
Is this really how you see me?
If I can’t make any more,
If I can’t open the only door
Say now ,
This is really how you see me.

Say now,
Is this really how you see me?
Say now,
Is this really how you see me?
